This article was previously published under Q181645 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you open a file that shares resources with
another project, Microsoft Project may stop responding.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you do the following:
- You use the Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications Delete method to
delete a task assignment within a resource pool (the source of the
shared resources), while the project that contains the actual assignment
is not open.
- You open the sharer file.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods:
- Remove the task assignment from the project that contains the task,
rather than from the resource pool.
-or-
- Open the project containing the task that the resource is assigned to
prior to deleting the assignment from the resource pool.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed at the beginning of this article.
