PRJ: Dependency Lines Drawn Inconsistently for Summary Tasks (181644)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 2000
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q181644 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you view the Gantt Chart, some summary task
dependency links may be drawn as S-shaped links when the L-shaped links
option is selected.
NOTE: To view which link option is selected, click Layout on the Format menu. Under Links, three options are displayed: No Links, S-shaped Links, and L-shaped Links.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You select the L-Shaped link option.
- You link at least two summary tasks with a finish-to-start
dependency.
- The Finish date of the successor summary task is less than or equal
to one day after the Finish date of the predecessor summary task.
NOTE: This cannot happen if the predecessor summary task
finishes right before a nonworking day. For example, if the Finish
date is on a Friday and Saturday is a nonworking day.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
