SYMPTOMS

Internet Explorer may fail when running script that is written in Visual Basic Scripting Edition and that includes a byte ("B") type function. If you use a byte ("B") related function in a Web page, you may receive the following scripting error (if the script error dialog box has not been disabled):
Type Mismatch <FunctionName>

CAUSE

The following byte ("B") related functions in the Visual Basic Scripting Edition are not supported in Internet Explorer 4.0 for Unix on Sun Solaris:

  • ChrB
  • LeftB
  • RightB
  • MidB
