SUMMARY

To connect the Microsoft ActiMates TV Pack transmitter to the VCR and the television, you need at least one Video Out jack available on either the VCR or the TV. If neither the VCR or the TV have a Video Out jack, you cannot connect the ActiMates TV Pack transmitter.

NOTE: Video In/Out connectors are not the same as VHF/UHF antenna connectors. Each connection carries a different type of signal, and each uses a different type of cable. It is not possible to connect the ActiMates TV Pack transmitter to a VHF/UHF antenna cable.

There are several ways to connect the ActiMates TV Pack transmitter to the VCR and TV, depending on how the VCR and TV are currently connected.

Video Out Jack Available on VCR

If the VCR and the TV are connected with an antenna cable, and a Video Out jack is available on the VCR, connect the ActiMates TV Pack transmitter to the Video Out jack on the VCR. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the TV and the VCR from the wall outlet.
  2. Connect one end of the video cable provided with the ActiMates TV Pack to the Video Out jack on the VCR.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to the Video In jack on the ActiMates transmitter.
  4. Plug the AC Adapter cable into the power connection on the ActiMates transmitter, and then plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet.
  5. Plug the TV and the VCR back into the wall outlet.

Video Out Jack Not Available on TV or VCR

If the Video Out jack on the VCR is connected to the Video In jack on the TV, and there is no Video Out jack available on the TV, connect the VCR to the ActiMates TV Pack transmitter, and then connect the transmitter to the TV. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the TV and the VCR from the wall outlet.
  2. Unplug the cable from the Video Out jack on the VCR, and plug it into the Video Out jack on the ActiMates transmitter.
  3. Connect one end of the video cable provided with the ActiMates TV Pack to the Video Out jack on the VCR.
  4. Connect the other end of the cable to the Video In jack on the ActiMates transmitter.
  5. Plug the AC Adapter cable into the power connection on the ActiMates transmitter, and then plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet.
  6. Plug the TV and the VCR back into the wall outlet.

Video Out Jack Available on TV, Not Available on VCR

If a Video Out jack is available on the TV, but not on the VCR, connect the ActiMates TV Pack transmitter to the Video Out jack on the TV. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the TV and the VCR from the wall outlet.
  2. Connect one end of the video cable provided with the ActiMates TV Pack to the Video Out jack on the TV.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to the Video In jack on the ActiMates transmitter.
  4. Plug the AC Adapter cable into the power connection on the ActiMates transmitter, and then plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet.
  5. Plug the TV and the VCR back into the wall outlet.
