This article was previously published under Q181262 SYMPTOMS
Shortcuts to access the Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS)
Administrative Manage Server console do not work correctly and VBScript error messages may be displayed when the page that the shortcut points to is used.
NOTE: The VBScript error messages do not occur in SBS 4.5.
CAUSE
The SBS Administrative console is created from special HTML pages that use frames. These frames contain VBScript instructions and other links that start the associated Administrative console wizards. When a shortcut is created, these frames are not properly initialized because the application Console.exe is not started when the shortcut is used.
RESOLUTION
Create a shortcut to Console.exe to launch the Administrative console or
use Manage Server, that is available by clicking the Start button. When the
Administrative console is launched, choose the desired task from the
Tasks, More Tasks, or Online Guide pages.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
