SUMMARY

When using the Microsoft Fax service with Outlook 98, it is possible to address new mail messages to both e-mail addresses and fax telephone numbers. You can manually type a recipient's fax number or select it from an address book if the entry already exists. If you manually type a fax telephone number, you must use the following format

[FAX:xxxxx]

where xxxxx is the fax phone number of the recipient.

Outlook installed with the Internet Mail Only components can include the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition fax service. To Address a WinFax Starter Edition Fax Message (in IMO mode), follow these steps:
  1. In the To or Cc box of the open fax message, type fax@[xxxxxxx] (where xxxxxxx is the fax number of the recipient).
  2. To create a pause for a dial tone between numbers, type the letter W, for example:

    fax@9w5551212

NOTE: You cannot address a single message to both a fax recipient and an e-mail recipient; messages must be sent separately.
