OL98: Cannot Copy Multiple Attachments from RTF to HTML Message (181091)

SYMPTOMS

When you copy multiple items from a message formatted using Microsoft Outlook 98 Rich Text format (RTF) and paste into a message formatted using HTML, three rectangles, each containing an X, appear in the HTML message. The same results occur when you drag multiple items from an RTF message to an HTML message.

You may also receive the following message:

This message refers to one or more pictures which cannot be found. It will be sent without them.

NOTE: This problem does not occur when going from an RTF message to another RTF message, or from an HTML message to an RTF message.

RESOLUTION

Drag one attachment at a time from the RTF message to the HTML message, or copy and paste one attachment at a time.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

To change the default format of outgoing messages:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Mail Format tab.
  3. In the Message Format section, select the desired format from the list, and click OK.
