FP97: FrontPage Uses Host Name Not Fully Qualified Domain Name (180823)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows with Bonus Pack
This article was previously published under Q180823 For a Microsoft FrontPage 98 version of this article, see 194223.
SUMMARY
When you start FrontPage Explorer, you receive a message box that contains
the host name for your computer rather than the fully qualified domain
name.
FrontPage and other applications may have trouble accessing your local Web
server using a fully qualified domain name if the local computer is on an
Intranet. Therefore, FrontPage truncates the fully qualified domain name
and uses only the host name to access the Web server on your computer.
