Inbox missing when you restore e-mail after upgrading to Windows CE 2.0 (180550)

SYMPTOMS

When you restore your e-mail messages after you upgrade your Handheld PC (H/PC) to Microsoft Windows CE version 2.0, the Microsoft Pocket Outlook Inbox may be missing.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you do not configure the Internet Mail information service.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, configure the Internet Mail information service, and then restore your e-mail messages. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. On your H/PC, double-tap the Inbox icon on the desktop.
  2. On the Compose menu, tap Options.
  3. On the Services tab, tap Add, tap Internet Mail, and then tap OK.
  4. Type a name for the information service, and then tap OK.
  5. Type the appropriate information in the Service Definition dialog box, and then tap Next. If you do not know the appropriate information, please contact your Internet service provider (ISP).
  6. Configure the features you want in the General Preferences dialog box, and then tap Next.
  7. Configure the features you want in the Inbox Preferences dialog box, and then tap Finish.
  8. Tap OK, and then tap Exit on the File menu.
  9. Connect your desktop computer to your H/PC.
  10. On your desktop computer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Windows CE Services, and then click Mobile Devices.
  11. On the Tools menu, click Backup/Restore.
  12. On the Restore tab, click Restore Now.
  13. When you finish restoring your backup, click OK, and then close the Mobile Devices window.
