OL98: Letter to Contact Wizard Does Not Insert Company (180540)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook, when you generate a letter to a contact using the "New Letter to Contact" feature, the contact's Company and Country fields are not automatically inserted into the "Delivery address" window in the Letter Wizard dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To force insertion of the Company and Country fields, use "Click here to use Address Book" on the Letter Wizard dialog box, and re-select the Contact record.

NOTE: "New Letter to Contact" is designed to work with Microsoft Word 97. It will not work with earlier versions of Microsoft Word, or other word processing programs.

Steps to Force Insertion of the Company and Country

  1. In the Letter Wizard dialog box, click "Click here to use the Address Book."
  2. In the "Show names from the" list, click Contacts.
  3. Click the new contact on the drop-down list and click OK.
Result: The recipient's name and address will be displayed, including the company and country information, and the job title. If the country information is not needed, it can be deleted.
