Encarta 95 Err Msg: Cannot Open Encart95.stf (180439)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method for your version of Windows:

Windows 95/98

If you use Microsoft Windows 95/98, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
2. In the Named box, type encarta.ini, and then click Find Now.
3. In the list of found files, right-click the Encarta.ini file, and then click Delete.
4. Close the Find: Files Named Encarta.ini window.
5. Reinstall Encarta 1995 for Windows.

Windows 3.1x

If you use Microsoft Windows 3.1x, follow these steps:

1. Start File Manager.
2. On the File menu, click Search.
3. In the Search For box, type encarta.ini.
4. In the Start From box, type the following

   <drive>:/<windows>

   where <drive> is the drive on which Windows is installed and <windows> is the folder in which Windows is installed.
5. Click the Search All Subdirectories check box to clear it, and then click OK.
6. In the Search Results window, click the Encarta.ini file to select it.
7. On the File menu, click Delete. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click OK.
8. Close the Search Results window, and then quit File Manager.
9. Reinstall Encarta 1995 for Windows.
