OL98: Editing Contact Phone Number Causes IPF in Mso97.dll (180432)

In Microsoft Outlook 98 when you modify a telephone number field in a
Contact on a Compaq Presario computer, an Invalid Page Fault in Mso97.dll
or in Kernel32.dll, may occur.
CAUSE
There is a problem in the Telephone Application Programming Interface
provider (TAPI) that is pre-installed on the computer.
RESOLUTIONTo remove the telephony service, follow these steps.- Quit Outlook if it is currently open.
- Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Telephony.
- On the Telephony tab, click to select "Compaq Telephony Service
Provider," click Remove, and then click OK.
- Close the Control Panel, and then restart your computer.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98.
