WD98: Floating Objects Cut Off in Online Layout View (180335)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q180335 SYMPTOMS
In online layout view, floating objects may appear to be cut off.
NOTE: Floating objects are not cut off in page layout or print preview or
when the document is printed. You cannot see floating objects in normal
view.
CAUSE
Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition provides a new document viewing option
called online layout view. This view optimizes the layout to make reading
the text easier. To do this, Word increases the text size and wraps the
text to fit inside the current window configuration. This view is designed
primarily to view HTML or Web style documents that support background
colors and textures. The changes made to the document to enhance
readability affect the display of the document only. The document is
displayed with the colors and textures only when online layout view is
selected.
WORKAROUND
While the floating object can be selected and moved by dragging in
this view, when you change back to page layout view, the position of the
floating object may be radically different.
This view is designed primarily to view HTML or Web-style documents that do
not support floating objects. If the document is designed to be used
online, then replace the floating objects with inline objects, otherwise
view and position the floating objects in page layout view.
To display the document as it will print, switch to page layout view.
NOTE: Floating objects are not displayed in normal, outline, or
master document view.
To switch viewing options, click the view you want on the View menu.
