WD98: Online Layout View Does Not Show Negative Indent (180334)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q180334 SYMPTOMS
A paragraph formatted with a negative indent does not display the negative
indent in online layout view; however, Word allows you to set a negative
indent while in online layout view.
CAUSE
Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition provides a new document viewing option
called online layout view. This view optimizes the layout to make reading
the text easier. To do this, Word increases the text size and wraps the
text to fit inside the current window configuration. This view is designed
primarily to view HTML or Web style documents that support background
colors and textures. The changes made to the document to enhance
readability affect the display of the document only. The document may print
very differently from the way it is displayed when this online layout view
is selected.
WORKAROUND
To display the document as it will be printed, switch to page layout view.
The negative indent will be displayed correctly in normal view, but other
formatting is not displayed in its proper location.
To switch viewing options, click the desired view on the View menu.
