Setup of Windows NT MMTA on Windows NT 4.0 Does Not Complete (180298)

SYMPTOMS

Setup does not complete the installation process of Microsoft Mail Multitasking Message Transfer Agent (MMTA) on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. Instead, the following error message is displayed:
Setup has encountered a problem.
Please report File='COMMON\INF01.C',Line=......

STATUS

Contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) to receive a copy of the latest Setup.exe file. This Setup.exe file is also available on the Microsoft bulletin board service (BBS). This issue also applies to Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. The fixed version of Setup.exe for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 also resolves this issue for installing the Windows NT MMTA on Windows 2000 Server.

To install the Windows NT MMTA on Windows NT 4.0:
  1. Retrieve the latest version of Setup.exe.
  2. Create a new directory on the Windows NT Server computer on which you plan to install the Windows NT MMTA.
  3. Copy the contents of the Windows NT MMTA compact disc to the new directory.
  4. Rename the Setup.exe file and replace it with the new copy of Setup.exe.
  5. Start a command prompt (DOS Shell) in Windows NT, and then run Setup.exe.
