OL98: Unable to Open or Delete a Recurring Appointment (180282)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to view or delete a recurring appointment in Microsoft Outlook 98, Day/Week/Month view, you may get the following error message:
Can't open this item. The object could not be found.

RESOLUTION

Use one of the following methods.

Method 1

  1. On the View menu, point to Current View and click Recurring Appointments.
  2. Double-click to open the appointment or right-click and click Delete to remove the appointment.

    NOTE: If you are opening an item, this workaround will only allow you open the recurring series and not the individual appointment.

Method 2

You may need to reregister the Outlook forms. To do this, first rename the FRMCACHE.DAT in the <Windows>\Forms folder. Then run Outlook 98 Setup and choose to reinstall Outlook.
