This article was previously published under Q180264 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, if you click Object on the Insert
menu, and then click From File, some files are not listed in the Create
From File list.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the attributes for the file have been set to read-
only (locked) or hidden (invisible).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, clear the read-only (locked) or hidden
(invisible) attribute for the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- In the Finder, select the file.
- On the File menu, click Get Info.
- Clear the Locked check box, and then close the Info window.
If the file is stored on a Microsoft Windows NT server or on other server,
you can also change the attributes of the file in Microsoft Windows 95 or
Microsoft Windows NT. To do this, follow these steps:
- In the Windows Explorer, right-click the file. On the shortcut menu,
click Properties.
- Clear the Read-only and Hidden check boxes.
- Click OK.
After you do this you can insert the file in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh
Edition.
