OL98: ErrMsg: Cannot Find the File "Outlook /cleanreminders" (180155)

SYMPTOMS

When you use a command-line switch to control what happens when you start Microsoft Outlook, you may receive an error message such as:
Cannot find the file "Outlook /cleanreminders" (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

CAUSE

The command-line switch is included within the path and enclosed within quotation marks.

To use command-line switches, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type

    outlook /cleanreminders

    There is a space character between Outlook and the forward slash (/).
  3. Click OK.
The standard installation path for Outlook is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe

The following set of steps apply if you have installed Outlook to a path other than the standard installation path:
  1. On the Start menu, click Run.
  2. Click Browse. Locate the Outlook executable file, and then click Open.
  3. Type a space after the listed path, and then type the command-line switch.

    NOTE: If the path contains spaces, you must enclose the path in quotation marks (""), and use the correct case for each character in the path. The command-line switch must be typed outside of the quotation mark.
  4. Click OK to start Outlook using the switch.
