WD98: Default Bullet Format Lost After Reopening HTML File (180061)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q180061 SYMPTOMS
If you use the Web Page wizard to generate an HTML document that contains
bullets, clicking the Bullet button on the Standard toolbar may not give
you a bullet of the same style if you have closed and reopened the HTML
document.
CAUSE
The bullets generated by the Web Page wizard are GIF pictures. They are
not created with the standard internal bulleting mechanism that Word uses
in non-HTML documents.
Closing and reopening the HTML document runs the HTML tags through the
HTML converter and the current status of the default bullet is lost.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.
Method 1: Insert GIF Image of Bullet
To re-insert the bullet you want, follow these steps:
- On the Format menu, click Bullets And Numbering.
- Click More and find the GIF image that represents the bullet of your
choice (in the Microsoft Office 98:Clipart:Bullets folder).
- Click Insert.
Method 2: Use Copy and Paste
To use the Copy and Paste commands, follow these steps:
- Click on one of the bullets in your document that you want to copy.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Move the insertion point to where you want to paste the bullet image.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste.
