WD98: Footer Truncated or Missing from Legal Pleading (180021)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q180021 SYMPTOMS
When you run the Legal Pleading Wizard and change the bottom margin to
.5 inch, text in the footer may be truncated or missing when you print the
document.
CAUSE
The From Edge setting for the Footer is automatically readjusted to a smaller
value (for example, it is readjusted to 0.15 inch).
NOTE: This problem does not occur when you change the top margin.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, increase the From Edge value for the footer after
the wizard is finished.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh
Edition. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
Text may be truncated or missing when you print (or print preview) the document
because all printers have an unprintable region. When you change the footer
margin to a smaller value, you may be forcing the footer text into the bottom
unprintable region of your printer. For most printers, this unprintable region
is approximately .25 inch to .33 inch from the bottom edge of the page. For
other printers, such as the Hewlett-Packard DeskJet series of printers (and most
ink-jet type printers), this unprintable region is .67 inch from the bottom edge
of the page.
