SUMMARY

Although Microsoft Access can use a custom paper size, you must first create the custom paper size by clicking the Start button, pointing to Settings, and then clicking Printers. In Microsoft Windows 95 and later, you would then click the Paper tab in the Printer Properties dialog box, and then click the Custom icon under Paper to create a custom paper size. In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, however, you must first create a custom form if you want to use a non-standard paper size.

MORE INFORMATION

Creating a Custom Form

Follow these steps to create a custom form for printing to a non-standard paper size in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. Note that you cannot create a custom form unless you have first installed a printer driver that supports non-standard paper sizes. For example, many printer drivers for dot matrix printers support custom paper sizes.
  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
  2. On the File menu, click Server Properties.
  3. In the Print Server Properties dialog box, click the Forms tab.
  4. Click to select the "Create a New Form" check box.
  5. Type the name of the custom form in the Form Description box. Under Measurements, specify the form's dimensions and margins.
  6. Click Save Form, and then click OK.

Using the Custom Form in Microsoft Access

Follow these steps to use the custom form with a Microsoft Access report.

In Microsoft Access version 2.0

  1. Select the report in the Database window.
  2. On the File menu, click Print Setup.
  3. If the printer that supports custom paper sizes is not the default printer, click Use Specific Printer, and then select the appropriate printer in the list.
  4. In the Size list under Paper, click the custom form that you created in step 5 of the "Creating a Custom Form" section. Then click OK.

In Microsoft Access versions 7.0 and 97

  1. Open the report in Preview or Design view.
  2. On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Page tab.
  3. If the printer that supports custom paper sizes is not the default printer, click Use Specific Printer, and then click Printer.
  4. Select the appropriate printer in the list of specific printer names, and then click OK.
  5. In the Size list under Paper, click the custom form that you created in step 5 of the "Creating a Custom Form" section. Then click OK.
