The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project 2000
  • Microsoft Project 98 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q179780

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you open a project that contains an inserted project, you may see that the details in the timescale of either the Resource Usage view or the Task Usage view displays incorrect values or is missing information.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you open a project that contains an inserted project, and the inserted project's tasks are hidden.

Details of Cost, Work, and Earned Value type fields for the inserted project are not saved in the consolidated file. When you open the consolidated file, the inserted project is not expanded, and the details from the inserted project are neither displayed nor included in any calculations for summary tasks that contain the inserted project.

WORKAROUND

To show the details information for the inserted project in the Task or Resource Usage view, expand the inserted project. On the Project menu, point to Outline, and then click Show All Subtasks.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
