Error Message Clicking Undo Refresh Data on the Edit Menu (179687)

If you click Undo Refresh Data on the Edit menu, you may receive one of
the following error messages.
Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive the following error message:
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module EXCEL.EXE at
0137:303e9377.
Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
The application "Microsoft Excel" has unexpectedly quit, because
an error of type 2 occurred.
You should save your work in other open applications and restart
the computer.
Or, the program may close without displaying any error messages
and without allowing you to save your work.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when you do the following:
- You return external data to a worksheet in Microsoft Excel by pointing
to Get External Data on the Data menu, and then clicking Create New
Query.
- You refresh the external data by clicking Refresh Data on the Data menu
or by clicking the Refresh Data tool on the External Data toolbar.
- You clear the Save Query Definition check box in the External Data
Range Properties dialog box.
- On the Edit menu, you click Undo Refresh Data.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, do not click Undo Refresh Data on the Edit
menu if you clear the Save Query Definition check box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
