PUB98: Followed Hyperlinks Disappear With Some Backgrounds (179533)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 98

This article was previously published under Q179533

SYMPTOMS

Hyperlinks created in Microsoft Publisher disappear after being followed (visited) one time.

CAUSE

When you create text hyperlinks, you must specify a color for the link before it is visited and a color for the link after it is visited. If the color of the hyperlink after it is visited is the same color as the background of your page, the hyperlink will effectively "disappear" after it is followed one time. This behavior is by design.

RESOLUTION

If you experience this problem, change the color of the visited hyperlinks by following these steps:
  1. On the Format menu, click "Color and Background Scheme."
  2. Click the Custom Tab.
  3. Under Scheme Colors, click the arrow in the New List to the right of Followed Hyperlink and select a different color.
  4. Click OK.
