BUG: MMC: 256-Color Icons Not Supported in version 1.0 (179404)

SYMPTOMS

256-color icons that appear in the result pane are not displayed correctly. Either the colors do not display properly, or the icons are displayed as 16- color icons.

CAUSE

256-color icons are not supported in version 1.0 of the Microsoft Management Console.

RESOLUTION

There is no workaround. This functionality is controlled by the Microsoft Management Console, and support for hi-color icons was not built into version 1.0 of the Microsoft Management Console.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
