XL98: Closing Workbook with VBA Appears to Stop the Macro (179119)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q179119 SYMPTOMS
If you run a Visual Basic for Applications macro that closes a workbook in
Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, a dialog box that contains only a
single (OK) button may appear instead of a dialog box with two (OK and
Cancel) buttons. When you click OK, Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
stops responding (hangs).
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the Save As dialog box is still displayed in
Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition when the macro ends. Until this
dialog box is dismissed, the program does not respond. Note that when this
problem occurs, the notification manager does not indicate a problem.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, switch to Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
and dismiss the Save As dialog box. After you do this, the program behaves
normally, and your macro runs.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
