PUB98: Ruler Origin Does Not Stay at Spine of Book (179102)

This article was previously published under Q179102 SYMPTOMS
When you create a publication using the book-fold page layout, the zero
point on the top ruler will always default to the left edge of the page.
Other desktop publishing software places the zero point of the ruler at the
spine of the book; if you work on a left page, the zero point of the ruler
is at the right edge of the page. And, if you view facing pages, the zero
point is at the center boundary between pages. Microsoft Publisher does
this by design.
RESOLUTION
To move the zero point on the top or side ruler to a different location,
follow these steps:
- Rest the mouse pointer over the zero point you want to move until you
see a two-headed Adjust arrow.
- Hold down the SHIFT key and click the right mouse button. Drag the ruler
guide to set a new zero position and then release the mouse button.
NOTE: This will change the ruler setting for the current publication only.
When you create a new book-fold publication, you will have to repeat these
steps.
