XL98: Attached Toolbar Is Not Saved in 5.0/95 File Format (179005)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, when you save a workbook, a custom toolbar that is attached to the workbook may not be saved.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you save the workbook in the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook file format.

NOTE: If you save the workbook in the Microsoft Excel Workbook file format, an attached toolbar is saved with the workbook.

STATUS

This behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.

In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, you can attach custom toolbars to workbooks. If a workbook contains an attached toolbar, the toolbar is available to every user who opens the workbook.

To attach a custom toolbar to a workbook, follow these steps:
  1. Point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Customize.
  2. Click Attach.
  3. In the list of Custom Toolbars, click the toolbar that you want to attach to the active workbook, and click Copy.

    Repeat this step for each toolbar you want to attach to the workbook.
  4. Click OK, and then click Close.
