WD6x: WD6x: Double-Clicking Clipart Starts TeachText, Generates Error (178946)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh 6.0
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh 6.0.1
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh 6.0.1a
This article was previously published under Q178946 SUMMARY
If you double-click one of the clip art files supplied with Word for the
Macintosh (located in the Clip Art folder in the Word program folder), the
computer beeps and the following error message occurs:
TeachText cannot display this kind of document.
MORE INFORMATION
The clip art files supplied with Word for the Macintosh 6.0 are not
TeachText documents, although they appear on the desktop as a TeachText
icon. These files are color PICT files, the native Macintosh color graphics
format. Rebuilding the desktop does not change the icon.
To use the clip art files supplied with Word, open them in Word using the
Picture command on the Insert menu.
This behavior does not occur in versions of the Apple Macintosh Operating
System 7.5 and later. A new version of the text utility, known as
SimpleText, is not only the text viewer but also the default color PICT
viewer for the Macintosh operating system. When you double-click a PICT
image in System 7.5 of later, the file will be opened correctly in Simple
Text for viewing only.
