Money 98: Misleading Terminology in Additional Household Income (178909)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Money 98
- Microsoft Money 98 Deluxe Edition
- Microsoft Money 98 Financial Suite
This article was previously published under Q178909 SYMPTOMS
In the budget, if you enter expected dividends under Additional Household
Income, the forecast will count them twice, once as Additional Household
Income and once through investment gains that are generated based on the
rate of return specified in the Savings & Investments area.
CAUSE
The budget erroneously instructs you to include expected dividends in the
Additional Household Income section of the top-level budget. This is wrong
because that income is included in the rate of return set in the Savings
and Investments place.
RESOLUTION
Do not include dividend information in the budget.
MORE INFORMATION
The rate of growth specified in the Savings & Investments area encompasses
all investment growth, whether it is capital appreciation, interest, or
non-reinvested dividends.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
