PUB98: WordArt May Not Use the In-Place Editing Interface (178903)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 98

This article was previously published under Q178903

MORE INFORMATION

When you insert a Microsoft WordArt object into a Publisher document by using the WordArt Frame tool located on the vertical toolbar, an "in-place"editing session of WordArt is initiated. This standard interface causes the menu bar options in a Publisher document to reflect those associated with the current application editor. This same "in-place" editing interface will occur for WordArt if you click Object on the Insert menu, unless you select the Display As Icon check box in the Insert Object dialog box.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Open or switch to Microsoft Publisher and create a blank page.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Object.
  3. In the Insert Object dialog box, click Microsoft WordArt 3.2, and click the Display As Icon check box.
  4. Click OK.

Note that the expected "in-place" editing interface does not appear.

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a Microsoft WordArt 3.2 object into a Publisher document, you may not get the standard "in-place" editing interface.

CAUSE

This will occur if you selected the Display As Icon check box in the Insert Object dialog box when you initially created the object. All subsequent editing sessions of this WordArt object will also lack the "in-place" editing interface.
