XL98: Background Query Check Box Not Available (178898)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q178898 SYMPTOMS
When you create a PivotTable report, the Background Query option in
the Options dialog box of the PivotTable Wizard is unavailable.
CAUSE
Because simultaneous queries are not available in Microsoft Excel, the Background Query option is not available when you create PivotTables.
MORE INFORMATION
If the Background Query option were available, it would allow focus to be
returned to Excel (so you could continue to work) while the query is
running in the background.
Although the PivotTableWizard method in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications has a
BackgroundQuery property, setting this property to True does not actually allow queries
to be performed asynchronously.
