XL98: Crash After Pasting Forms Control (178859)

SYMPTOMS

You may receive one of the following error messages after you paste a control that you copied from a worksheet that has since been deleted:
The application "Microsoft Excel" has unexpectedly quit, because an error of type 2 occurred.

You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer.

-or-

Sorry, a system error occurred.
"Microsoft Excel"
error type 11

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you copy a control that has been placed on a worksheet, delete the worksheet, and then paste the control onto another worksheet. The error may occur at the moment you paste the control or when you close the file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

This error can occur after pasting any of the controls that you create using the Forms toolbar.
