This article was previously published under Q178813 SUMMARY
If you are going to use Publisher to publish a Web site to a network or
Internet service that does not support long file names, you must change the
default Web Site properties before you publish.
By default, Publisher gives its Web pages the.html file name extension. For
example, the first page of your publication might be called Index.html and the second page, Page2.html.
If you copy these files to a computer that does not support long file
names, the names will be changed. For example, Page2.html changes to
Page2~1.htm. If the name of a file is changed, the hyperlinks to that page
will not work.
You can configure Publisher to use the three-letter .htm extension.
