PUB98: Lines in Tiny Flowers BorderArt Don't Print in Color (178751)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 98

This article was previously published under Q178751

SYMPTOMS

If you print a Microsoft Publisher object or frame that contains the "Flowers, Tiny" BorderArt pattern to a color printer, the lines between the flowers may not be printed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the lines between the flowers are medium gray hairlines and most color printers print these lines as white.

RESOLUTION

To print the lines, make them thicker by using Microsoft Draw:
  1. Draw a rectangle in Publisher.
  2. Select the rectangle. On the Format menu, point to Line/Border Style, and then click More Styles.
  3. Click the BorderArt tab.
  4. In the Available Borders list click "Flowers...Tiny" and then click OK.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Cut.
  6. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and click New Drawing.

    Microsoft Draw will start.
  7. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  8. On the Format menu, click Colors And Lines.
  9. Create a solid 1-point line and click OK.
  10. Click anywhere on the page to close Microsoft Draw.
The box will reappear on your page and the lines will be slightly thicker. You can now print this box successfully to a color printer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
