The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q178679 SYMPTOMS
When you create multiple-level (or nested) subtotals for data, the totals
appear in the incorrect order (are staggered incorrectly) and may exclude
grand totals for some functions.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you do the following:
- You create nested subtotals by using the Subtotals command on the Data
menu or run a Visual Basic for Applications macro to create subtotals
with multilevel outlines.
-and-
- You clear the Summary Below Data check box in the Subtotals dialog box.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, click to select the Summary Below Data check
box in the Subtotal dialog box.
If you are using a Visual Basic macro to create your subtotals, set the
optional SummaryBelowData argument to True or use the xlSummaryBelow
constant. The following macro gives an example of this argument:
Selection.Subtotal GroupBy:=1, Function:=xlSum, TotalList:=Array(3), _
Replace:=False, PageBreaks:=False, SummaryBelowData:=xlSummaryBelow
STATUS
