This article was previously published under Q178623 SYMPTOMS
Double-byte characters appear as question marks when they are displayed in
a rich edit control on English Windows NT 4.0.
CAUSE
These fonts are Unicode fonts (that is, Chinese MS Mincho) and the rich
edit control is not Unicode-enabled.
RESOLUTION
Use the standard edit control. The standard edit control is Unicode-enabled
and it displays double-byte characters correctly.
