PUB98: Maintenance Mode Setup Doesn't Remove or Add Fonts (178583)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Publisher Maintenance Mode Setup to remove fonts that are installed by Publisher, the fonts will not actually be removed. Furthermore, if you then manually delete the fonts, Maintenance Mode Setup will not reinstall them.

RESOLUTION

If you want to remove the fonts that ship with Publisher, you must do so manually. For more information on removing fonts from Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0, please see the following Help topic:

To delete a font from your computer

If you then decide you would like to restore those fonts, follow these steps:
  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. Click Microsoft Publisher in the list of installed programs.
  4. Click Add/Remove.
  5. When the Publisher Maintenance Mode dialog box appears, click Reinstall.
  6. Provide the disks or CDs Setup asks for.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
