XL98: UserForm Is Lost When Saving in Earlier Version Format (178462)

SYMPTOMS

After you save a workbook in an earlier version of Microsoft Excel, any UserForms in the file are lost.

Note that you do not receive a warning message that indicates that Microsoft Excel will fail to save the UserForms.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if all of the following conditions are true:

  • You add a UserForm to a Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition workbook. -and-
  • You save the file in a file format for an earlier version of Microsoft Excel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

A UserForm is a new feature in Microsoft Excel 98 and is not supported by earlier Macintosh versions of Microsoft Excel.
