OL97: Fax to Contact Fails on PBX Systems Due to +1 Prefix (178239)

When you attempt to send a fax to a Contact in Microsoft Outlook 97, the
fax may fail.
CAUSE
The failure may occur because Outlook appends "+1" to the beginning of
the phone and fax numbers. The +1 is the country code for the United
States. Certain phone systems, such as PBX systems, may not be able to
process the +1 prefix.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97
