Nothing Happens When You Click Disconnect with IDE CD-ROM Drives (178160)

When you click the Disconnect check box to select it or clear it in CD-ROM
properties, nothing may happen.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when you are using an integrated device
electronics (IDE) CD-ROM drive. This check box should not be available
for IDE CD-ROM drives. The Disconnect check box is designed to be used
with small computer system interface (SCSI) devices only.
STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
You can use the Disconnect check box to disconnect SCSI devices from the
SCSI host adapter as needed, allowing the resources (the SCSI bus) to be
used by other devices.
The Disconnect check box does not effect the performance or functionality
of the IDE CD-ROM drive.
