XL98: Cannot Print a Help Topic in Print Preview (177987)

SYMPTOMS

If you click Print Preview on the File menu and click the Help button (the button with the question mark) to display MS Excel Help, the Print Topic command and the Page Setup command are unavailable on the File menu. These commands are normally available when you view Help from other views in Microsoft Excel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, switch from print preview mode to a different mode, and then print the Help topic. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Close on the File menu to quit MS Excel Help.
  2. Click Close to close print preview.
  3. Click Microsoft Excel Help on the Help menu to display the Office Assistant.
  4. Type print preview or type any other text for the Help topic you want, and then click Search.
  5. Click the item in the bulleted list to display the Help topic for the item.
  6. Click Print Topic (or Page Setup) on the File menu to print the topic.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
