The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q177695

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, the Show Clipboard menu command does not appear on the Window menu. However, Show Clipboard does appear on the Window menu in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, and in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior and view the contents of the clipboard in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, follow these steps:

  1. On the Application menu (in the upper-right corner of the screen), click Finder.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Show Clipboard.
When you are done viewing the clipboard, use the Application menu to switch back to Microsoft Excel.

You can also view the contents of the clipboard by clicking Scrapbook on the Apple menu, and then clicking Paste on the Edit menu. When you do this, the contents of the clipboard are pasted into the scrapbook.

STATUS

This behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.

MORE INFORMATION

Because of the limited usefulness of Show Clipboard, this menu command was removed from the Window menu in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition. You can use either of the workarounds in this article to view the contents of the clipboard.
