Expedia Err Msg: Required .dll File Mvcl20n.dll Was Not Found (177515)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Microsoft Expedia Streets 98 or Microsoft Expedia Trip Planner 98, you may receive the following error message:
A required .dll file, Mvcl20n.dll, was not found.
When you click OK, you receive the following error message:
The main application could not be launched. Please rerun Setup.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if one or more files needed by Expedia Streets or Expedia Trip Planner is the incorrect version, missing, or damaged.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the following steps:

  1. Insert the Expedia Streets or Trip Planner CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent Expedia Streets or Trip Planner from starting.
  2. Double-click My Computer.
  3. Right-click the CD-ROM drive icon, and then click Explore.
  4. Double-click the Acmsetup folder.
  5. Double-click the Automap folder.
  6. Double-click the System folder.
  7. On the Edit menu, click Select All, and then click Copy.
  8. Close Windows Explorer.
  9. Double-click the hard disk on which Expedia Streets or Trip Planner is installed.
  10. Double-click the Program Files folder.
  11. Double-click the Microsoft Expedia folder.
  12. Double-click the Streets 98 or Trip Planner 98 folder.
  13. Double-click the System folder.
  14. On the Edit menu, click Paste. When you are prompted to replace an existing file, click Yes To All.NOTE: You may need to copy the files into the Windows\System folder.

  15. Close all open windows, and then restart the computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Expedia Streets 98 andExpedia Trip Planner 98. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
