OL97: "About This Form" Unavailable on the Help Menu (177403)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 97, the option, "About This Form" is not displayed on the Help menu of a custom form. Therefore, the form's Version, Form Number, Contact, and Description cannot be viewed from the Help menu.

CAUSE

"Save form definition with item" option is selected on the form Properties tab.

RESOLUTION

To view the form information from the Help menu, edit the form and clear the "Save form definition with items" check box. You can also select the form and view the information in the New Form dialog box.

MORE INFORMATION

The "Save form definition with items" option provides for storing the form definition with an item created when using the form. If you clear this check box, then use a modified form to send a message, the recipient will not be able to view any changes you made to the form.

To Clear the "Save form definition with items" Option

  1. Open the form.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Design Outlook Form.
  3. On the Properties tab, click to clear "Save form definition with item."
  4. On the File menu, click Publish Form As.
  5. Click Publish.
  6. Close the form without saving it.

To View Form Information in the New Form Dialog Box

  1. On the Compose menu, click Choose Form.
  2. Click to select the desired form. The form information is displayed at the bottom of the New Form dialog box.
