XL98: Chart Is Printed in Color When Black And White Is Selected (177396)

SYMPTOMS

When you print a chart in Microsoft Excel 98, one or more of the data points may be printed in color even though you have selected the option to print the chart in black and white. This behavior also occurs when you view the chart in print preview.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You double-click a data series or point, click Fill Effects, click Preset, and then click OK. -and-

  • On the File menu, click Page Setup, click the Sheet (or Chart) tab, click Black And white (or "Print in black and white"), and then click Print or Print Preview.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
