This article was previously published under Q177134 SYMPTOMS
If many printers are installed in Windows 95 or Windows NT, the complete
list of printers may not show up in the Print dialog box of a Microsoft
Office 95 component program.
CAUSE
This problem is caused by a limitation on the number of characters the
Office component will store for the printer list. With long printer names,
the list may show as few as 30 printers. If the names are shorter, the list
may show closer to 60 printers. The exact limit on the number of characters
is not known.
WORKAROUND
To workaround this problem:
- Reduce the number of printers that are installed.
-or-
- Shorten the names of the installed printers.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Office for
Windows 95, version 7.0. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97
for Windows.
