The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project 98 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q176933

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, if you save a project in a database format (such as Microsoft Access, SQL, or Microsoft Project) and then reopen the project, file properties, such as Title, Subject, and Author, may be blank.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you change the value of an item in one of the following lists of properties, without changing the value of at least one item in the other list:

  • A list

    -and-

  • B list
NOTE: To find file properties for a project, click Properties on the File menu.

WORKAROUND

To avoid losing file properties when you save a project in a database format, change the value of at least one item from each of the lists listed below.

For example, if you want to change the Company field, you must also change at least one item in the A list, such as Author. You do not have to actually change the value; you can reenter the original value.

   A List
   ------
   Title
   Subject
   Keywords
   Comments
   Author

   B List
   ------
   Manager
   Company
   Category
   Linkbase

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
