SUMMARY

To send a greeting card using Greetings Workshop version 2.0, your e-mail program must be Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) MAPI- compliant. However, if your e-mail program is not MAPI-compliant, this article describes a way you can still send your e-mail greeting. Check with your e-mail programs manufacturer to determine if your program is MAPI compliant.

If Your E-mail Program Is Not MAPI-Compliant

NOTE: These instructions also apply to a MAPI-compliant e-mail program.

To send your greeting, follow these steps:

  1. Create your greeting card in Greetings Workshop version 2.0.
  2. Click Send My Project.
  3. If prompted to save your project, click Yes.
  4. Name your project and click Save.
  5. At "How do you want to send" click Send Via Email.
  6. Click Continue. Greetings Workshop will create an electronic version of your project.
  7. At Ready To Send, click Close.
  8. Start your e-mail program and create a new message.
  9. Type the e-mail address of your recipient.
  10. Insert the instructions in the INCLUDE THESE INSTRUCTIONS section below in your e-mail message.
  11. Add the file you created in step 6 into your message as an attachment. Consult your e-mail software documentation on how to accomplish this task. You will find the electronic version of the file you created in Step 6 in:

    C:\Program Files\Greetings Workshop\SendTemp\UserProjHTML\Greeting.exe

  12. Send the message.

Attached is the electronic edition of a greeting created using Microsoft Greetings Workshop.

To see this greeting, follow these steps:

  1. Check that your computer has an Intel x86 or Pentium processor.
  2. Check that your computer is running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 or newer.
  3. Check that you have an Internet Explorer 3.0 or equivalent Web browser installed on your computer.
  4. If you see an icon at the top of the message, double-click it to see the greeting.
If you do not see an icon, it is possible that your e-mail software received the attachment to the message as a separate file. Please refer to your e-mail software on how to save attachments from an e-mail message. After you get the greeting as an attachment, double-click the greeting to see it.

To Obtain a E-mail Program:

  • Contact your Internet Service Provider. Most Internet Service Providers include access to the Internet and an Internet Browser/Mail program as a part of their service.
  • You can purchase the Microsoft Internet Starter Kit from your nearest software retailer. The Kit includes Internet Service from MSN and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  • You can download several e-mail programs from the internet at no cost.
