To use the ActiveX version of MSN Money Investing, you must have an ActiveX-capable operating system that runs Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later:
  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or later
  • Microsoft Windows XP

Remove MSN Money Investing components

To remove the MSN Money Investing ActiveX components, follow these steps:
  1. Close your Internet browser.
  2. Click Start, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In the list of installed programs, click the MSN Money Investment Toolbox program.
  4. Click Change/Remove to remove the controls.
To remove additional components, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Internet Options.
  3. On the General tab, click Settings.
  4. Click View Objects.
  5. Right-click any MSN Money Investing Components that are listed, and then click Remove.

    Click Yes when you receive the following message:MSN component will be removed permanently. Are you sure? In this message, MSN component may be under any one of the following names:
    • MSN Money Portfolio
    • MSN Money Charting
    • MSN Money QuickList
    • ChrtCtl Class
    • FndrCtl Class
    • QlistCtl Class
    • PortImport Class
    • MS Investor Portfolio
    • OFX Parser (16b TLB) Class: This permits importing of Brokerage OFX files.
    • QEngine Class: This permits importing of Quicken investment accounts.
    • MSN Money Ticker: This is the control for the scrolling ticker.
    • MS Investor Ticker: This is an earlier version of the scrolling ticker.
    Note Some items will be listed with a status of "Unknown" or as "Damaged" after you run the Uninstall tool. Also, if you see more than one file listed with the same name, update the file list by pressing F5, and if another file is still listed, remove it. Repeat as needed. If you find other controls that are listed as damaged, you may want to remove them.
  6. Close the Downloaded Program Files window and any other windows that are open.

Reinstall the MSN Money Investing components

  1. In Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or a later version, visit the following MSN Web site:
  2. Click Deluxe Portfolio Manager.
  3. The installation starts automatically. If you are prompted to install the program, click Yes.
  4. When the chart with red bars appears, click I See The Chart.
Note The Netscape Navigator Web browser can only use the Basic version of the Portfolio. If you want to install the Deluxe version, use Microsoft Internet Explorer.
